San Diego with no Toad

We will be spending Christmas week in La Mesa. We have been to San Diego/Coronado dozens of times but never in the MH. The RV park has a Green Line close by. Our plan is to take the Green Line to Old Town then get tickets for the Old Town Trolley and go to Coronado one day and maybe Balboa Park the next day, and maybe spend some time in Little Italy. (We've already been to all these places but never get tired of them). One thing we have never done is the Amtrak Coaster between Old Town and Oceanside. If anyone is familiar with it we would appreciate your input, as well as any other ideas in the area that can be done without a toad. Thanks

I got a lot of response on the Sprinter Forum of all places. We are set up for the Green Line into Old Town where we will take the Old Town Trolley to Coronado and Balboa and a few other places over 2 days and also another day on the Amtrak Coaster up to Carlsbad Village and maybe the Oceanside beaches. The good news is the weather is supposed to be 75 on Christmas and 70's to 60s the rest of the week.
