We are looking for a spot to overnight park our 42’ class A for a period of a 2-3 weeks while visiting family in the San Jose area. Need to be within 1 hour so we can commute back and forth each day. Really just need a safe place to plug in.

The Alameda County Fairground RV Park is a giant parking area with hookups. Not pretty but the nights have been quiet. Lots of RV parks in the area have construction workers here to rebuild after the fires.

Moran Hill to the south has a few options. I had a RV on a annual space at the Thousand Trail there for a few years. Just north of Morgan Hill is Coyote Valley RV Resort - very nice. Morgan Hill is a nice and is first town south of San Jose. 15-30 minutes to San Jose.

I'd stay in Santa Cruz at Redwoods RV. Beautiful and about an hour to San Jose.

Are you a member of the Elks? They have an RV park in the San Jose area. About $25 a night with water and power.

I have family in San Jose that I visit at least twice a year. Have tried all the parks available and IMHO Coyote Valley RV Resort is the nicest and most convenient to San Jose. However if you're thinking about a summer trip make your reservations as soon as you can.

Freeways can sometimes get backed up, so if you let me know the general area you'll be visiting in San Jose, I might be able to offer some back road routes that could save you some time.

Thank you to all for the speedy replies. Looks like there are more options than I thought. Sounds like traffic is going to be the biggest issue. With the new RV we received 14 nights at thousand trails parks so will explore that option first.

We are staying in the area at Gilroy Garlic RV Park. Decent park, paved, about 35 minutes to San Jose.

We stayed at the Casa De Fruita on 152 just east of Gilroy. Its about 30-45 min to San Jose, depending on time of day.. We stayed there three days and used Passport America - $60 total.

I love Casa de Fruta! It's the Disneyland of fruit stands. We didn't stay there this time, but did stop by on our way through today to get the rosemary garlic pistachios that I love.

It's also the home of about 20 Peacocks.

Great fun at 3am to hear their weird calling screeches.

We stay at Casa de Fruta several times a year - during the winter they accept Passport America all week, but during the summer they restrict it to Monday-Thursday only. We've never been disturbed by the peacocks, but then our motorhome has double pane windows, and we're usually sound asleep at night! For a good lunch go over to the Casa de Wine and get a sandwich, chips, and a drink (any size) for $7.99 - great price! Don't forget to stop in to the Casa de Sweets for some ice cream or fudge for dessert!
