Seattle to Orlando Route Question

I'm not bringing my TT with me this trip but I know you guys would have the best suggestions

I'm headed from Seattle to Orlando April 29. I'm guessing weather won't be an issue that late in April / early May

There are basically two routes to take that are almost identical in mileage.

Route 1
I-90 all the way to Sioux Falls -> Kansas City -> Nashville -> Atlanta -> Orlando
I-90 to Yakima -> Salt Lake -> Denver -> Salina -> Tulsa -> Ft Smith -> Little Rock -> Atlanta -> Orlando

I guess what I'm really asking, what is easier to deal with in early May? I-90 across the rockies or I-90, I-84, I-80 then I-70.

It seems like I-90 across Wash - Oregon - Montana would get me up and over the mountains the quickest.

I'm not interested in scenery or making many stops. This is just a get to Orlando as fast as possible sort of drive.

I'm thinking that you won't be out of the woods yet for a snow storm even that late in the year, especially at higher elevations. I would try and put the mountains behind you as quickly as possible and watch the weather before you go. Not sure when the chain laws come off but you might want to check. Good luck and carry some water and a sleeping bag or a blanket in case the worst happens.

Yeah, I-90 to Sioux Falls, to KC, onto Atlanta, than Orlando would be the quickest and easiest. And in May, roads are all clear. I've done that route several times, and it's got some scenic going for it too.

Thanks, yeah, I think I'll just book it over I-90 to get out of the mountains as fast as possible.

Provided you are vaxxed I'm thinking SW Air but that would be a good road trip if that's what you're really wanting. It won't be as much fun going home though. Enjoy.

You would avoid Atlanta, Chattanooga (really bad traffic), Nashville, St Louis, and Kansas City if you went south from Denver on I-25 and then via Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Memphis, Birmingham, Columbus, GA and then over to I-75 (Tifton, GA).

I think those cities are easier to navigate than the others you would travel through.

Not sure about the time/miles. Just thought I'd throw out another option.

What about the southern route? Yakima - slc-abq etc. The only really horrible city on that route is dallas. Pretty drive. Entering fla on the 10 is so easy, road is in great shape and there's like no traffic. The 20 thru louisiana and ms is almost as good.

I did Olympia, WA to Key West a few years ago.

I did:
90 to 25 WY
After Casper, cut over on Rt 26 down to Ogallala, NE to pick up 80
In Lincoln, cut over on Rt. 2 to get to I-29
Hop on I-70 around KC
I-64 out of St. L to I-57
Get on I-24 just north of Paducah
Take I-75 in Chattanooga all the way down to the FL Turnpike

A few notes:
1. Keep Google Maps active to see and get re-routed around any traffic
2. Yes, big towns have traffic, more cars, etc. but don't be intimidated. Just barrel through. Chattanooga? Zip around Lookout Mt and in a blink you're through.
3. Keep an eye on the weather even that late in the year. I hit a May 1 13-inch snowstorm in western Kansas a few years ago.

Safe travels!
