September RV trip, where??

Not our first trip west by any means (6 motorcycle cross countries), but we had a nice trip planned in our new to us coach to Colorado leaving next Friday. Durango, Steamboat, Estes Park etc..

Well short story, family member had open heart surgery, is doing well, but it would be too soon to head across the country.

So we are re scheduling our vacation, starting Labor day through to mid-September. Both of us are still working,,, yes have to schedule.

What is everyones thoughts on visit Colorado in September? We are taking a bike, would like to do day rides here and there, seems like it mght be pretty cold?

Hi Lloyd in S.C.,
For me, September is the perfect time to visit Colorado. With a bike, consider the south western part of the state. There are many CGs to choose from. Day rides from any of the CGs would be wonderful. Routes 160, 491 145, 550 all are excellent rides. There are many things to do. Too many to list. Get a Rand McNally and you will see.

Elevation will determine the temperature. RMNP may be cold, but the southwestern part of the state should be very pleasant.

We are headed to s/w Colorado in August. Maybe you can use some of these ideas.
Our travel includes Gouldings at Monument Valley; Mancos, CO for Durango, Mesa Verde NP, Silverton and Edge of Cedars SP and Canyon of the Ancients; Torrey, UT for Capital Reef NP and the highway to Boulder, UT; Beaver, UT for Beaver Canyon; Kanarraville, UT for Kolob Canyon, Zion NP. Then home via Pahrump, NV.
S/w Colorado in September will probably be the start of fall colors. Beautiful area!
Have fun. Safe travels.
