Sequoia and Kings Canyon in April 2018

Hello,

We are looking for a campground to use as a base to explore Sequoia and King Canyon NP in mid April 2018. We have a 35' foot motorhome and a toad. The larger NP campgrounds, Lodgepole and Dorst won't be open until late June 2018. We are not sure that Potwisha or the road to get to Potwisha is do able with a 35' motorhome. Does anyone know a good campground that will work for us? Or is this just too early in the year to see Sequoia?

thank you

Don

I was looking in that area too. campgroundreviews.com had all the NP camps. I think Azalea was open year round. It is actually in the Kings Canyon NP, about 30 minutes from the main Sequoia attractions.

We talked to a ranger today, Potwisha is the best bet for that time of year. He said we can drive our 35' motorhome that far, but no farther on the highway because of construction and the curvy road.
He did say that Azalea is an option, but we could be camping in snow that time of year.
