Silent Valley, Banning, CA

We are supposed to be heading there on the 17th for a week. Have heard it's a nice park but some reviews have mentioned a rather "interesting" drive off the I-10 to get to the park. Steep and winding??

Would like to know what I'm in for before heading out. 35 gasser with Jeep in tow. Thanks...

Yes, it is steep and winding on SR 243 from I-10 to the right-side turnoff for Poppet Flats Road and Silent Valley. Microsoft S&T says it is about 9.5 miles to the turnoff. You may wish to disconnect your toad along 243 before you reach the base of the mountain.

Yes, it's steep and winding, however very doable in our 37' towing the VUE. I usually ascend around 30-35 MPH in 2nd gear, same going down. Take your time, there are numerous turn-outs, so keep an eye on traffic.

YEP......
2 lane steep-windy mtn road.

Gasser towing will be down in speed. Good suggestion to unhook and drive separate.

Entrance road to CG is also STEEP

CG is LARGE----some sites are strange lay out

We always disconnected/connected our Jeep at the base of the hill. Also keep a close eye on the rock outcroppings on the side of the road. Not a lot of clearance coming around some of the curves.

You may want to avoid the 8th street off ramp unless you have good ground clearance. It has a rather deep dip.

All very doable. Just take your time.
