Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville. Not right off the interstate but probably worth the 5 or 6 mile drive. Also Fontaineblue State Park in Mandeville. Both of these are very nice parks and would make a nice overnight. I'm not aware of any easy access parks. There is one past Hammond in Pumpkin Center (near Dixie RV). Probably a good place to just pull in and stop, literally right next to I-12.

Good catch. Fairview is closed until sometime in 2013. Fontaineblue is open as of Oct. 15th, with the exception of the cabins on lake Pontchartrain. Two other nearby but a bit off the beaten path state pàrks are Tickfaw and Bogue Chitto. Probably too far off interstate, but well worth checking out if you have more time.
