Does anyone have any knowledge on a KOA campground in Stanton, MO? crosseyedcricketcanoe.com
Sounds real nice and would be on our way back to NE/IA this spring.
Thanks.

Sissy,
We stayed at the CrossEyedCricket Stanton KOA in Sept '04 in a 36ft MH and our son's family of 5 in a large tent. A torrential rainfall = 7 holding a birthday party and sleeping in the MH. Oh, the memories!!
The staff was very nice, the restaurant had very limited hours and selections, the sites were very tight and not very level, the pool pump broke, so no pool for the rest of Labor Day weekend, but we had a great time anyway.
We took the river raft ride, which was very leisurely with very minimal rapids, suiting our party of 2 preschoolers, a preteen, 2 parents, & 2 disabled grandparents (us) just fine. Stopped on a sandbar to play for an hour and collect pretty stones. Beautiful river scenery, but river is NOT at campground (shuttle bus included in cost of raft trip).
You might want to look at Lake Paradise Camping Club (a CC and RPI park, but also rents to non-members). Address is Lone Jack, MO, 20 miles SE of Independence. Office only open Tues & Fri in winter. We hope to go there Memorial Weekend, if not already full. Having a time making contact.
Weston Bend State Park close to Independence is also great. Our son&family live in the area.

Lois & John
