Stay & Travel ideas near DC

Traveling through DC early June, ideas where to stay and fairly easy to trains into town. Looking at Pohick Bay regional Park & a few others, Figure the pros on the forum could lead me a decent direction instead of flipping a coin. Any Help is appreciated.
Thanx Greg

I always stay at Cherry Hill RV Park near College Park, MD. Bus stops at campground to take you to the College Park metro station to get the subway. Very easy to navigate DC that way. Staff in CG office very helpful if you’re a DC newbie. I’ve stayed there 6 times over the past few years.

Cherry Hill is pricey but head and shoulders above any other alternative.

You should also be able to take an Uber or Lyft from the park to the the College Park metro if the bus is a long wait. You could even take Uber/Lyft all the way downtown, but that's probably $25+ and take longer than the train.

Cherry Hill is very nice and having a Metro bus stop onsite can’t be beat.

There is also Pohick Bay and Bull Run Regional Parks which have full hookups but you would have to drive to a Metro stop. Also Lake Fairfax in Reston is close to the Metro but not full hookups.

All campground are easy to get to but the road into Bull Run can be narrow and the trees have a propensity to widen when you have to pass a car. Once in the park it is not a problem.
