Summer in Colorado
If you were to spend an entire summer at one location in Colorado, what general area do you like...and why? We are fulltimers and love to be in the mountains, but prefer trees and water over the high desert. We also don't care to be too far away from civilization and need good 3G/4G/cellular.

Probably around Durango. But, I'd probably move every few weeks.

A great park near in the foot hills of Denver just minutes from the mountains and close to Golden, Co. Lots to do... tour Coors Brewery. and 1 hour to ski areas with summer activities like gondola rides and bicycling. Check this one out.

There's a nice park in the city of Montrose. Nice town close to Ouray, Telluride, Black Canyon. Ouray has a nice CG near the hot springs pool. That said, I think the state is too big to enjoy by staying in one spot

Last summer we ran around all over the perimeter west and burned up lots of diesel, paying daily or sometimes weekly rates. This summer we want to spend less on fuel and maybe workcamp for a free site. I have not been in Colorado since 1976...the DW has never been there.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far...keep 'em coming!

Durango, Pagosa Springs, South Fork, Gunnison, Buena Vista/Leadville/Salida are our favorite areas in Colorado.

If you want to workkamp in a great setting, much as you describe, check out Dolores River RV Park. On the Dolores River, 13 miles north of Cortez and about 50 miles south of Teluride. This is a real gem of a campground and area.

Personally I vote for Montrose/Ouray but if you want to workkamp the KOA is Estes park, gateway to Rky Mtn Nat'l Park is looking for help at this time.

Thanks for all the ideas. We landed jobs near Durango for the summer season and are heading out west in a couple of days. Stopping at the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas first.
