We really enjoyed our stay at Kentucky Horse Park about 35 minutes away from Ark. https://kyhorsepark.com
Take a day or 2 to visit the Horse Park.
Eat at Red State BBQ.

We stayed at Whispering Hills RV Park about 25 miles south of the Ark. Nice place.

Another vote for Whispering Hills. Not too far and if it suits your interests (or you drive a Camry or Lexus) the Toyota factory offers tours of their factory. The bourbon trail also interesting if you like that sort of thing.
Not sure if COVID closures have those places closed.

A third vote for Whispering Hills. We really enjoyed our stay there and not too far from the Ark.

A fourth vote for Whisper Hills. It is convenient and has a nice pond with geese. You should also visit the Creation Museum while there; a day at each.
Enjoy,
