Thousand Trails Membership Fee Question

I have a TT Elite membership that I bought in 2019. I have been paying my membership dues monthly, but got a special bill today that not only included a slight increase in my yearly membership dues, but also included a $65.00 "2020 Assessment" fee - in addition to my yearly dues.

I called TT and asked, what was this for, and would I be paying this "Assessment" each year. TT was unable to answer my simple questions.

So - question to TT members - do you pay an annual "Assessment" fee in addition to your yearly dues? Has anyone seen this?

No idea--but bet in was in the "fine print" in your contract....can you say time-share?

I won't be billed until Nov (also bought an Elite contract in 2019) so I haven't seen it yet. In the past, some members had an optional charge shown on their bills for park upgrades, but payment was optional. Please keep us posted if you find out any additional information.

I've seen those in a couple of past years, but they were optional. Don't remember seeing one in this year's renewal that I paid in April. Guessing if there is one, I'll see it early next year.

We upgraded an older membership in 2018. The assessment was/ is not optional anymore. There is a stipulation that they can charge an assessment and they did. You pretty much have to pay it with the newer contracts.

A fee increase is not pleasant but I'll take the $65 increase compared to paying $35-50+ night for a campsite.

I did find in my contract the following language..."After the initial term of your camping pass, the amount of your annual dues may be increased from time to time without limitation". (I was aware of this when I bought it). It also references "special assessments" which is what the OP is describing.

For anyone not familiar with Thousand Trails and the Elite contract, members get unlimited camping in exchange for their original purchase price and these annual costs.

I'm on the East Coast with 100 nights booked in TT parks between my start date in Sept and the end of my trip at the end of December. If I was paying the "market rate", I wouldn't be able to afford a trip of this length.
