Looking for any information ref. cell phone and or air card (VERIZON) service availability at this preserve. Have heard that it is non-existent, just wishing to confirm. I do I an external amplified antenna.

Cell availability at Pio Pico is somewhat spotty, however those who have Verizon and an external antenna do the best. You should be okay, unless you get the occasional campsite that, for some reason, doesn't work. If so, change campsites.

Last time we were there, there was a long term camper (name escapes me) there that was a Wilson Electronics dealer. He set me up with a complete antenna system and adapter for my cell phone. I went from having no service to 2 bars on my phone.
