Spent one of the longest weeks of my life one day in Tonopah. :-) Good RV park in Hawthorne, Whiskey Flats RV. 104 miles north of Tonopah on Hwy 95. There is also dry camping in the parking lot of the El Capitan Casino in Hawthorne, park away from the 18 wheelers, they get noisy coming and going. Elevation is a little less than Tonopah, less likely to have snow. Good recommendation for the Roadside park on 95 about 8-10 miles north of Tonopah. Dry camping area. Looked it over last spring. Stayed in Beatty last spring, parked on a side street of the main drag. No problems. There is also a casino RV park on the North end, with a free parking lot and a park on the South end of the town. The RV park on the South was sort of bare bones, sand and not a lot of space as I remember. Good breakfast/ lunch restaurant right across the street.
