Thanks for all the advise!
Distance should not be the issue, especially running 1/2 Marathons - Heat - more than likely is what you want to think about - as the down is not nearly as bad as the UP :-) , so hope for a cooler, cloudy day and go for it.

Camera is important as everything is different from every direction - at all times during the day - not to mention Water.

Where/What, else do you plan to go/see along the way from NJ?

We always suggest to people to try to take the time to see the "Other Side" - North Rim - if you do then Page/Antelope Canyon/Horse Shoe/Canyon de Chelly/Monument Valley/Mexican Hat/Chaco Canyon - So many state parks, and Native American spots to see.

Lake Powell - All of Utah? You are prepared for the Heat?

Colorado? San Juan's? Collegiates? Maroon Bells? just to name a few.

Look this site over for interesting info - 19 summers of RV road trip travels across the USA and Canada | Lolo's Extreme Cross Country RV Trips

Then Stan's Photo Journald as a long list of suggestions along the way - Stan Parker's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

Enjoy the adventure,
