Mackinac Island. We stayed in the Kiwadin casino in St Ignace. Campground is just a parking lot but close to the boats to Mackinac Island.
Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Impressive dunes. No campground recommendation, stayed in friends yard.
Off the path a bit but Sault Ste. Marie, to watch the Ships lock thru the Seaway.

We did Yogi Bear RV Park at Frankenmuth, MI. Nice RV Park, fun town and great Bavarian food.
Frankenmuth Michigan
Also Vacation Station RV Resort in Ludington, MI. Enjoyed the park and the town.

It would be about 2 hours out of the way.. but I've heard wonderful things about Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (Lake Superior)..
Also.. while coming around the WI side... I would suggest stopping at Lambeau Field in Green Bay... and no trip would be complete with out a trip into Door County (the "thumb" of Wisconsin)..
Door County is called the Cape Cod of the Midwest.. If you're travel plans are flexible.. while in Door County.. be sure to visit Egg Harbor, Sturgeon Bay, Fish Creek and Sister Bay... if there during the week.. you could get lucky enough to get a spot in Peninsula State Park.. it's the crown jewel of the State of Wisconsin Park System..
State parks in WI directly on Lake Michigan are as follows:
Potawatomi SP - Sturgeon Bay, WI
Peninsula SP - Fish Creek, WI
Point Beach SP - Two Rivers, WI
Kohler-Andrae SP - Sheboygan
Harrington Beach SP - Belgium, WI
Cliffside Cty Park - Racine, WI
All state parks use the "Reserve America" system, additionally, they have "drive up" sites available...
Also... another suggestion.. if stopping at Kohler-Andrae SP... a trip into Kohler, WI would be fun... go to the American Club and check out the only 5-star resort in the Midwest.. Also, check out the Kohler Design Center and have fun looking at all the bathroom/kitchen fixtures... and a tirp wouldn't be complete without a visit to the John Michael Kohler Art Museum... very cool place..

At Sault Ste Marie you can take a boat ride through the locks. I enjoyed the Edmond Fitzgerald museum at the U P and stayed at Taquanamin Falls. Take a sweat shirt or jacket as it was nippy when we were there in July. Also there are boat rides to pictured rocks in that area.

Definitely Sleeping Bear Dunes Nat'l Lakeshore. Platte River is a beautiful campground but sites are really in demand as is all of Michigan in the summer/fall. You'd better plan on reservations now. Good luck!
