We are traveling with two Class A Motorhomes (36ft and 39ft) and a Class C towing cars and want to know how difficult is it to travel from Bryce to Moab Utah, We are not fans of going up high and curvy mountains. Is there a safe way to travel this or should we avoid doing it

Bryce - west on 12; north on 89 to I-70 east to 191 south to Moab. Boring but you didn't want hills.

From 89 you could also take 62 to 24 to I-70 OR... from 24 take 72 to I-70

OR... stay on 24 to I-70

The way we'd go to see awesome scenery would be 12 to Torrey to 24 to 95 south to Blanding then north on 191 to Moab..... much longer but better views.

How are you getting to Bryce?

I Agree - Great Advice - Might look at Catching some of the State Parks along the way - Kodachrome - Goblins - Green River - Escalante NM - Capital Reef NP sooooooo much to see and Never enough time.........

We traveled from Moab to Bryce in a 40' class A pulling a jeep on a trailer. The reverse of what you are planning. We took 191 out of Moab to I-70, to 89, to 12 to Ruby's at Bryce. The first route that Twogypsies suggested. From an east coasters point of view it is very scenic. Heck everything is scenic out there. Hwy 12 to Torrey is incredibly scenic and is worth the drive but you need the right DNA to drive that route (in a MH) in my opinion. My .02

As others have mentioned I personally would go 12 to 24 then depending on time I would either go up to 70 then 191 south to Moab or if I had time 95 to 191 north to Moab.

From the 24/95 intersection in Hanksville you are looking at what 2-2 1/2ish hours to get to Moab going up to 70 or add another 100ish miles on 95 and make it 5ish hours if you can keep from stopping which I know I couldn't too much to see. However you could consider that a scouting run for a future trip. You could spend a week or two easily on 95 between 24 and 191 if you hike or 4 wheel

The reward of hwy 12 far outweighs the potential short term discomfort. The "eyeball bustin" scenery is some of the best anywhere on this planet.

However as 2gypsies mentioned you can bypass it on the 89/70 or 89/62/24 route. You can also from Bryce take 22 north right at the intersection of Bryce and 12 take that to 62 to 24 save some miles and traffic. Either way you get to go through Capitol Reef. 2gyspsies also mentioned getting up to 70 via 62/24/72. 72 is a good road with very little traffic and great views. I personally prefer it to 89 up to 70. 70 has some great scenery in its own right as you will be travelling across the San Rafael Swell from where 72 intersects it to just short of Green River. Coming down off the Swell will test your brakes but easily doable. From the bottom of the Swell to 191 is pretty hohum at least as far as Utah scenery standards go but the Green River Desert offers its own stark beauty. All in the eye of the beholder as they say.

How long of a drive would it be from Richfield to Capital NP in our toad? I need to hit the FJ on Hwy. 89 and stay at a campground there for a few nights. Plus I don't think I have the right DNA to drive Hwy. 12 in my motorhome.

I-70 between I-15 and Green River is one of the most scenic Interstates I’ve been on. Lots of pull outs and scenic overlooks. If the OP hasn’t been on it before and doesn’t like curvy, twisty roads, I’d highly recommend 70.

If you mean Richfield, UT on I-70, it's only 67 miles.

By the time you get this far your DNA will be perfect for Hwy 12!

Some DNA just does not Change

- But if it did the reward would be Great.

Rt 12 and RT 128 are two drives we still will drive for 1/2 a day to experience.

Amen! IMHO it should be an automatic on anyone’s bucket list. Highways 12 and 24 are great.

We’ve done it in a Navion with a toad, then later in a diesel pusher with a toad. Nice road, phenomenal scenery. There will be a big tour bus now and then, but that’s not different than most other highways ... no big deal. Capital Reef NP has a great campground and the park is superb. If in season, pick from fruit there. And get some of the wonderful pies from the little store in the park.

I would take Johnson Valley Road to the 22 and go up by Otter Lake looks like a great Drive, However, I have never gone that way which is probably why I would take it.
However, if they are calling for whether I would take the safe route 12 to 89 to 70 to 191. The 70 grade is steep but other than that, the view are great I've taken it a lot over the years.

I would enjoy driving Hwy 12 in my car more instead of the motorhome. Are there spots where I can pull over in the car? I would have two chances to drive Hwy 12. One while staying at a campground close to Bryce and then another one while staying in Richfield, UT. I have my fuel stops planned and I would need fuel at that point anyway.

There are plenty of places to pull over with a car.... and a RV. Some nice short side trips, too. Definitely drive it in your car since you'll be at Bryce!!!

I was told to avoid Hwy 70 from Bryce to Moab. We are a retired group of Rv'ers in 70's so a little skittish of steep curvy hills. In post at top from Twogypsies 70 is mentioned. Is that portion steep and curvy? I personally want to take a scenic route but other two RV units were told avoid Highway 70. Thoughts please?
