Take the ferry to the island and the bridge back to main land it's cheaper, they only charge you to leave, the ferry was $88.00 and the bridge was $36.00 . That's was 3 years ago. Stay a day or 2 at summer side for the sunsets

Stay in Cavendish. I recommend the KOA. Staying anywhere else will be a disappointment

PEI is one of mine and Sally's future Dream Trips. There's just so much to do and see there, not just Prince Edward Island, but the entire Maritimes – New Brunwick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island – as a whole. See if you can work in a stop or overnight in St. John, Nova Scotia, and take in the extreme tides on the Bay of Fundy.

On the return trip, we're staying a couple of days at The Mermaid and the Cow, a semi-primitive CG and working farm in Pictou County, Nova Scotia.

PEI is one of our favorite places to visit. There's a Parcs Canada campground at Cavendish which is very nice, but which on our second trip was astonishingly buggy. It's time of year dependent, if you are there in bug season, you'll want to camp inland.

Fun things to do include the Lucy Maude Montgomery house, author of the Anne of Green Gables books, Cow's for ice cream, and Carrs for seafood, especially if you like oysters. Malpaque oysters are some of the best. There's a guy who does amazing smoked fish, including Nova, I think the company is called Medallion. We have bought both while there and ordered from him here in the states. Lobster suppers in the basements of churches and community centers are touristy, but delicious and help support the local economy. New Glasgow was our favorite, but there are many good ones.

Finally, take time to go to a ceilidh or two. They are a wonderful slice of the local culture and more importantly they are a great opportunity to hear very talented local musicians in their own environment. The history of music in the Maritimes is fascinating.

We have a summer home 30 min. from the bridge. Check out the tourism guide at the following address and have them send it to you in the mail so you can have a hard copy to peruse. And since you will be travelling the Province of New Brunswick obtain their tourism guide also by googling. Also sine you will be 1 hour travelling time from Nova Scotia obtain their travelling guide also. As your departure place is unknown you will probably travelling some distance plan to stay a couple of weeks to make the trip worth your time. Plan your trip July, August & September to to experience good weather. Bugs are everywhere when you are camping, just make sure you have some bug repellant.

We were up there in 2013 and had a great time. Stayed at the Cavendish KOA which had plenty of space (only a back in site was available for us) and was centrally located.

Avonlea Village was actually a lot of fun. I thought it was going to be a tourist trap and went only because DW is into Anne of Green Gables. It was a nice, clean and entertaining place. The mac and cheese in the Moo Moo Grilled Cheese was the best I've ever had. But anywhere you go on the island expect great seafood, ice cream and cheese.

We drove to Charlottetown where there is a nice 'city' vibe. Also some great historic home tours.

Driving to PEI, we took Rt. 9 in ME and crossed over in Calais to Canada. We then took Rt. 1 to Mockton and on to PEI. Crossed over the Federation Bridge both ways (about $48 with a toad). On the way back we stayed on Rt. 2 to the top of I-95. Definitely recommend staying on I-95 as it was quicker in the long run.

We spent 4 days at the Cavendish national park. Pull thru 3 service site that was a very short stroll to the beach.
