Twin Cities to Glacier

We are leaving for Glacier on 6-18 or 6-19. We live east of the Twin Cities in Wisconsin, we are camping at Big Creek Campground in Flathead Nation Forest. Does anybody have any advice on the best route or free places to stay on the way there? My plan is to take 94 all the way to Montana, then 200S and 13 to hwy 2. The other option is to get on hwy 2 sooner by taking hwy 52 in North Dakota.

Big Creek is a good spot, having been there!! As to other stops on your way, one spot we used is the city park in Glen Ullin, ND. A few miles off 94, but not bad. If I remember correctly, it was free back in 2015. Things may have changed by now!! But can't give you any info on sites on 2 or up to it, having not been on those roads for many years now. Have a great, safe trip!!

I used that website on my other trips, but North Dakota looks pretty sparse for campsites on there.

Another possible app is Overnight RV Parking on the Google Play Store.

Try the Kampnik app.

It is an excellent resource for non private government campgrounds. Everything from local town and county camping on up to state and National parks. Lots of tiny towns have campgrounds for reasonable pricing complete with electric and full hookups. Town/ County/state campgrounds, National parks, forests, BLM, army corp of engineers, USDA etc. I use it for every trip I take.
