Twin Knobs - Kentucky

Yeah, I know what you're thinking... I snickered a little when I plotted it on the map...
But, once you get past the name... Wow what a great destination it is, in the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest! Twin Knobs is located at Cave Run Lake on Cumberland Ranger District.
It is a 700-acre campground that provides outdoor recreation with lots of amenities. Nearly 200 campsites are developed to accommodate RVs and tent camping. Daily rates are $40-single (up to 50 feet) - electric & water. (Dump station service at the exit).
Definitely worth putting it in the itinerary.

The road into the Forest... What out for those shoulders!

Twin Knobs is getting to be really nice campground. Really nice fishing in the lake, especially further up the lake in the branches of the Licking River.

The roads are great...
TENNDOT really takes care of their public roads and in the park.
My rig, with a toad, is fifty seven feet...

I doubt Tennessee DOT is doing anything to improve the roads in Northern KY

Last time I was down there the roads have been greatly improved. They have widen the road, repaved it and it was nice and smooth. On the way there you drive up the river road next to the Licking River. At the base of the dam is a huge fish hatchery, behind that is the spillway from the lake. Twin Knobs is on down the road from there. Around that area somebody has put in cabins for rent.
