Two overnights Breckenridge to Nashville

Staying in Nashville for the Fourth of July and heading back home to Florida. Looking for two overnights between Breckenridge and Nashville. Will cover about 4-5 hundred miles a day. Dodge City might be my first but don’t want to go too far off route because of time constraints. Thanks

If you're driving that distance each day, you really don't need a campground, just a parking space. I'd be looking for Walmart, Cabellas, a casino, or other places that allow overnight parking. Why pay for all the campground services if you aren't going to use any of it?

You're right, there is one in Colorado and also one in Texas. It does make a difference.

I prefer to get off the highway and into a campground if I can, if for no other reason than security. Way less likely to have someone mess with you in a campground. I plan 500 miles a day and pretty well know where I will be staying.

I have found nice Federal campgrounds less than a half mile off the highway, so its quite possible to do.

Casinos are to me OK because they are relatively secure and off the road, but I am not a fan of Wal-Marts, though the Cabellas, Bass Pro Shop, and Cracker Barrel is probably a bit better.

I assume the OP is in Nashville now, curious where they stayed the second night.

Ditto. Waking up this morning in Whittington Illinois. Was going to stop west of St. Louis but traffic was light so ran a few extra hours. Three hours NW of Nashville. Nice easy day today. Happy Independence Day.
