Utah parks

We are planning to visit the Utah parks next month...We will not be doing any hiking, as my husband has functional limitations, he can use his scooter though. We do have a jeep to hit some trails. How many days would you recommend in Zion, Bryce, Moab? I am thinking 3-4 nights each place. We are them hitting Colorado.

We've been to Utah many times. It's one of favorite states. Zion is beautiful but best explored by hiking. Bryce is amazing with all it's hoodoos and most of it does not require hiking to see it.
One of our favorite cities is Moab. There is so much to see there. You have Arches and Canyondland NPs. Again easy to see without walking a lot. The amount of time you've allocated for these places is about right.

Happy Trails!!!

Wow, that is a loaded question. I could spend a week just in and around Moab. There are the usual 4 wheel drive trails but also a switch back dirt road into the mountains and trails along the Colorado. Years ago I took a day trip with an uncle that lived in Moab down the Colorado to see hieroglyphs carved into the sand stone. Utah is such a beautiful state, you will love what ever time you have to spend.

When we stayed at Valley Sunset in Delta CO, and the nice owner loaned us a great book of Jeep roads in the area:

Also, the Jeep drive to Marble CO was a great trip with a fabulous restaurant at the end of the road.

In Zion, it's just a drive in a canyon if you can't get out and do a little foot travel. During the summer months you are required to travel in shuttle buses which will make it even more difficult to see much with limited mobility. It's also almost certainly going to be over 100 degrees every day there. Given your situation I would make this my shortest stop.

Bryce canyon tends to be cooler, and the views from the overlooks are accessible and well worth the time in my opinion. A day or two here will be well worth your time.

From Moab you have a lot of area to explore with scenery quite accessible from the road, or scenic overlooks. While it's a fantastic hiking area, you aren't as limited with Dead horse Point, Canyonlands and Arches etc. nearly as much as you are in the Zion area. One thing to keep in mind if using the 4 wheel drive is that it's easy to get into areas without cell service. With limited mobility you'll want to be sure to stay in well traveled areas, or at least areas you can call for help from should you break down. It's one of those areas where you really can get away from it all with a good 4 wheel drive if you try.

Have a great trip.

If you find that you have allowed too many days in the area of Moab (is there really a thing as too many days?) then think about taking you Jeep to The Wedge. It is north of Green River, UT and is fabulous. The road to get there has petroglyphs on it that a scooter should be able to access. Have a great trip!

Besides Arches and Canyonlands National parks and Dead horse state parks there is a Moab Giant Dinosaur park just north of Moab at the turnoff on highway 313 to Canyonlands. All the Dinosaur replicas are life size and represent all the dinosaurs that roamed Utah at one time.

My wife and I spent a couple of hours going through it and we didn't spend whole lot of time reading all the placards for each dinosaur exhibit. I don't really remember what it cost but remember thinking it was kinda expensive but was worth it after we got into the park,

I spend a month in Moab every year and still haven't gotten tired of the scenery and jeep trails. Hard to go wrong. I'll be there for the month of April again next year.

I would delete a day from Zion (as it is mainly a hiking park) and add a day to Moab with so much to see and do.
Enjoy the trip.

Never enough time if the Weather is GOOD.

But - It's HOT in Utah in June - https://weather.com/weather/monthly/...+USUT0165:1:US

When it hits triple digits it's HOT so might just get into Colorado and Seek some elevation to Cool off First.

Keep in Mind that the San Juan Forest is Closed now - Colorado 416 Fire Map Update: Durango Fire Spreads To 34,161 Acres As Rainfall Helps Containment

But that there are many other options available in Cooler Colorado.

As all these locations will be Crowded, yes even though it's Hot the Crowds continue to pour in, so .......think a little more about Utah in the Summer (JMHO)

If you are not into Hiking or Can't Hike the amount of time needed to explore is reduced, as to see these sights you usually will need to hike in a good bit.

Bryce in Elevated so Cooler - Moab offers many options, so may be good in the Jeep - Capitol Reef is good for the Jeep - Don't forget the Many State Parks as you go through Utah.

Might not be the answers you were after but might just help with making this a successful trip.

Best of Luck,

Thank you all for the replies. We will just spend on day driving the Jeep around Zion. Then head to Bryce and on to Moab for the majority of our time.

If you're wanting to see beautiful things, don't miss Capital Reef park in Utah. We've been to all the others and I truly believe C R is one of the most beautiful. We are there right now. We're staying at a great park called Thousand Lakes. You can see the beautiful red rock formations from our site. They have a pool and a great little restaurant here at the park. Much of the park can be accessed by vehicle. If you have a jeep, you'll be able to do a lot. Don't miss this park!

You would be better off parking the Jeep in Zion ($$$) and taking the shuttle. They close a large section of the road to thru traffic in the summer months.
