I don’t know if you are intent on traveling up the east coast but I’m going to suggest an alternative. Hit I10 in north Fl and head west to Vicksburg Ms, Tavel up the Natchez Trace to Shilo. Franklin Tn would be your next stop. From there you could go east to Chattanooga and then up the Blue Ridge into Virginia. I’ve been to many Civil War Battlefields and I don’t think anything compares to Shilo, there is still ghosts in those woods.

Went to Vicksburg on my way to FL from ID. Want to visit the sites in VA on my way to WI and ND. Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions.

Manssas, Appomattox Courthouse, Antietan, Harpers Ferry, Bull Run etc. What other ones should I visit? What campgrounds are in the area? I would like to camp at one spot for several days and take in as many as I can and then move to another campground for a few days and see the battlefields near by the new campground.*
I lived in Manassas for 2 years and visited many civil war battlefields. Antietam, Gettysburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, The Wilderness, Spotsylvannia Courthouse, are all within an easy drive of Manassas. I didn't own an RV at the time, so I am not familiar with any RV Parks in the area.
