Warmer campground

Hello All,

We have reservations for the months of Jan. and Feb. along the Colorado River in the Lake Havasu area. Last winter we did the dispersed camping along the same route and it was windy and cooler than we like it. Is there a warmer place to camp with our 28' motorhome inland from the river East in Az. or West in Ca. ? We will not be doing dispersed camping this year.

Thanks for your info.

The Colorado River corridor, gets wind and for a couple of weeks in Jan it can get cold (I've been snowbirding in the area 18 years) four or five days with frost is not unusual, although local tv will try and tell you a different story.
Yuma gets more wind, areas at higher altitude get colder.

I can't think of any where close to the river, or in the area, that is consistently warmer/calmer.
If warmer is a must, back up your arrival time a couple of weeks and stay into March.

Yuma or Phoenix areas are warmest in winter and less windy.

Tucson is a little higher elevation so will be cooler than Phoenix but still not cold.

Borrego Springs is nice but winds can come up.

Palm Desert/Springs areas can get windy, also, along with rains.

You'll never find perfect weather unless perhaps southern Florida. Then you'll have crowds, bugs and very expensive places.

Stay at Lowe elevations for sure

Yes PHX is warmer but also prime season, getting a campground on the weekend can be like winning the lottery

Good luck on your search

Last year when we visited in February, Yuma and Winterhaven were perfect. Great boondocking available at Imperial Dunes, just 15 miles away.
