Washington DC

We booked a week in the Washington DC area planning to visit several museums. We did not check the status before arriving-bad mistake. We are not able to get in anything because we did not get reservations for a time to visit. Some are booked until fall. We finally got a reservation to tour Mt Vernon the last day we are here.

The monuments and Arlington Cemetery are fully open.

If you plan to use the Corcilator bus system be aware that you will need to push the stop button if you want to get off at the next stop. We missed one because the moving sign in the bus did not work and no vocal announcement was made of the upcoming stop-the driver did not stop.

I do not know if the tour companies have time slots to get into places.

That's a shame, thanks for the heads up for those wanting to visit. I never would have thought a reservation was needed.

I think the need for reservations(time slot) has been going on for years. we were there in '97 and you needed reservation times for most places, relatively easy to get, but you had to have them. Before you go, check in with your state's representatives in D.C. many times they can help out. I think most of them have staffers that do that.

We are going to be there the Labor Day Week and looked today for reservations. We could not make any because the information said "1 to 30 days out". So we should see if we can get reservations at that time.
