Washington for RVers

Johnny Cash once said, "I have been everywhere man". But, most RVers have not ...

So, I was thinking the other day ... Oh no, DW has that look that I know so well every time I get to thinking ... I told her, no really, I was thinking that RVers want to go and see places, but they don't much enjoy burning diesel just to get there ... So, I said to self, "Self, why not ask others at the irv2 forum for feedback before you start them engines ..."

So, what I'm looking to do is get feedback from others that are familiar with specific states to help snowbirds and sunbirds with their travels.

Since Washington is a favorite place for many RVers ...

What parts of Washington do you recommend for other RVers? ... What parts would you put in the category of not worth the diesel needed to get there?

I think, in time, we could build a database from threads like this for each state in the US, places in Canada, Alaska, etc.

Washington is great for us because it is close to home. We have yet to explore the Olympic peninsula, we also want to see more of the central and eastern parts of the state. Believe me none of it is wasted time and fuel. Well, except for driving through Seattle during shift change at Boeing

Living next door, I usually end up in Washington before I can get anywhere else. The Olympic Peninsula is one of the more popular destinations. There are quaint towns, long sandy beaches at points and you can follow through down to the Oregon coast.
If you like hot, there is the eastern part of the state which is much more agricultural. Farms, fruit orchards, hot grassy hills with the occasional rattle snake. You have the coastal mountain ranges as well with small Alpine like towns and so on. I am a coastal boy so I like long stretches of beach, the sounds of the Ocean and so on but you can find pretty much any environment you want.

I think that they could do more to improve some of their State Parks, roads and other infrastructure. If you compare some of those things to Oregon right next door, you come away with the idea that some things are just tired. The basics are there but the upkeep and improvements have been somewhat neglected. There are parts of the state which I describe as looking "hard or lean".
