Watkins Glen NASCAR

Does anyone have any experience camping at Watkins glen? The pit road reserved spots are the only I can find with hookups(50 amp and water). Does anyone know if this lot is paved or level?

Paved and level. Very few sites available. Most who attend and camp are dry camping on grassy infield. Have a good time.

We camped at the State Park near by (Watkins Glen SP). Same thing there, very few electric sites. I believe you can reserve 6 months ahead of time.

I'm used to watching races at oval tracks and have never seen a road course in person. Will I be dissapointed at how spread out the action is?

What I like to do is walk around the track and get a perspective at all the different spots.

I I had a spot coming out of the s's to the back straight. The spot where you will see the best action varies. With each race depending on the players. My spot was good but not always the best. The fact you can move about and pick your viewing spot is part of the fun and experience. Embrace it and enjoy.

I know of a very nice campground in Bath NY that we stated at last year. The campground has full hook-ups and will accommodate large rigs. The Campground is only 40 mins away at the most and is about 26 miles away.
The campground is called Hickory Hill Camp and Resort; I am not sure what they charge for camping on race weekends but non-race days the cost was $59.00 a night.
