I’ll be curious as to response. I grew up, out in the country side, near the east of Wheeling a long time ago. Recently retired and full timing in our DP. Might spend a week or so in or near Wheeling this summer. Alas… they say: “You can never go home again”

Regards,
Tom Charlton

You could boon dock at the Cabela's store lot. I believe they have fresh water and a dump station.

Thanks smlranger, hadn’t considered that. I wonder what Cabela's policy is about camping for a day or two not just a quick over night, slides in, travel rest. Not that I’d start a camp fire and roast weenies or anything but I don’t see that there’s much available in the way of nearby campgrounds.

Regards,
Tom Charlton

We have over-nighted in just about every Cabela's store in the U.S. I have talked to other RVr's who tell me they have been in their lot/s for more than one day. When we made our first trip to the Cabela's in Wheeling, we did stay two nights. I inquired in the store and they said 'no problem.' Now, I may have flashed my Cabela's Visa card a few times so that may have made a difference .

Seriously, I really don't think they would mind. Do a little shopping in their store and inquire with the manager and I would bet they will be fine with a multi-day stay. There are other stores and several restaurants now open all around that store, including a Walmart.

I noticed the Wheeling Island Casino has overnight parking . Wondered if any members have stayed there and can provide testimonial re the parking facilities.

I might be going that way this summer and I thought I might drop in for a night if it is convenient.

Will be following this post with interest. Love to hear from those who have been there and done it.

Barkcamp State Park in Belmont Ohio is closest to Wheeling
and it is about 20 min west of wheeling
reserve early as there is a oil and gas rush in our area and there are no campsites or housing available
