Where to go?

DW and I are 30 miles north of Pasco Washington. We have about three weeks before we have to be back in California. We finished what we came here for. Now we decided not to continue to northern Washington as planned. Looking for ideas of where to go?? We were going to go down to southwest Oregon, but don’t want to deal with the fire and smoke. Spokan is only a couple hours from us, I have a sister there that I haven’t seen in a long time. Thinking of going there setting up somewhere and then take them to dinner. Then we would love to go to Idaho and meander back to the San Francisco Bay Area. Any suggestions on campgrounds or boondocking places, BLM land in Idaho??

Go up to the Stanley area of Idaho. Gorgeous in the Sawtooths! Plenty of national forest campgrounds in the area.

How about Ketchum/Sun Valley? Meadows RV Park just south of town is decent. Right on a hike/bike path. Nice area.

You have time to do both Stanley and the Sun Valley areas. You will not be sorry. The fact that you are close makes it almost a must do. Craters of the moon is worth a day trip. Hells Canyon - heck, there are a LOT of good choices.

You have about two weeks for exploring and then an easy 7 days back to SF.

Consider the northern Wasatch range in UT as well as the big 5 national parks.

Sounds like some great ideas. We drove to Spokane today,we’re boondocking in a dirt parking lot at Northern Quest Casino, meeting my sister and brother in law here for dinner. I forgot to mention my DW took a very nasty fall 3 days ago. So she is so soar we can only drive about 2 hours a day, but she is healing. So it’s been about 20 plus years since I was camping in Idaho, so I’m really liking the suggestions. I’ll have to google the places suggested above. Keep the ideas coming,we’re leaving here about 6:00 AM tomorrow heading into Idaho. I also have a hurt dog I was walking her this morning and she was bitten in the leg by a Chow, we were pulling them apart and the Chow was biting hard on her leg. This has been a bad trip for accidents, hopefully their over.

So Stanley and Ketchum are over 7 hours from Spokane area, which is fine. But would really like something within 2 to 3 hours from Spokane. We will head towards Stanley but not all in one day.

Stay in Lewiston, ID at Hell's Gate State Park - very pleasant with shade trees. Or... Ponderosa State Park in McCall, ID

Well we’re still in Spokane. We pulled the trailer to my sisters house and decided to stay an extra night here, we haven’t visited with her family in so long it was very nice. But we will be pulling out of here about 9 or 10 this morning. We’re going to start out heading toward Lewiston area and go from there.

X2 on Hells Gate SP in Lewiston. We are in our early 70's and really enjoyed the narrated jet boat ride up the Snake River. The trip we took included an excellent box lunch at a riverside ranch. The boat leaves right from the state park. The Nez Perce/Lewis and Clark Visitor Center, 39063 US Highway 95, Spaulding, ID is very well done. There is also a private rv park across the river in Clarkston, WA which looks nice. Caravans sometimes stay there.
Have fun!

We went south on 95 to Potlatch, then east a few miles to Harverd stayed in a national forest last. Finally found a river for the dog to swim in. Haven’t decided which way from here. DW is still sleeping.

Well from the Harverd area we drove the scenic byway and found a beautiful place called Moose Creek camp it’s a few miles out of Bovill. It’s very primitive, just boondocking which is what we really prefer, it had a hand pump for water but I wouldn’t use it for the dog,it was very dark colored.Lots of neat sites right on the lake with full sun for the solar,But those sites are a little too short for are rig. We ended up in a very nice spot, I didn’t even have to unhook the truck. But we only had about two hours of afternoon sun. Left me no choice but to run the generator a couple hours every day. More Coyotes then I’ve ever seen. Walking the dog the first morning as the sun was coming up we were being stocked by them. They didn’t seem to be hiding from us at all. We stayed there 3 nights for $10 a night, I would really recommend it. Lots of nice trails to hike. And they had a couple of outhouses (which I needed because of that dam stick)We left their yesterday and made our way to Lewiston. Right now we’re backed up to the snake river at a Premiere RV Park called Granite Lake Resort, it’s nice but a little too close to your neighbor for my liking. But it’s close to some major stores to restock the RV and they have a laundromat. We’re staying here one more night maybe two. I’m not sure what we’re going to do today, wife is still in a lot of pain from her fall so it looks like the jet boat ride on the river is out. Maybe we will check out museums in the area. We haven’t made a plan yet for the next destination.
