Where to stay near Longmont CO>

We are planing to drive our new Allegro 32SA from Michigan to Longmont CO to stay a while and visit family. Wondering where we can stay within 30 minute drive of Longmont. Heard the State Park there is nice, for 2 weeks. Nervous about driving up to Estes Park, know that area is nice but a little farther than we prefer. Any suggestions?

Also want to see Mt Rushmore perhaps on the return trip. Other suggestions for the trip?

We stayed at the Boulder Fair grounds last summer and it was very basic, dusty and not very appealing to us. Sites pretty close together as well. It did serve our purpose as we were visiting friends in Bounder for a couple of days.

The state park maybe a better option if available.

St. Vrain State Park. The park itself is very nice, super easy trip to Longmont-maybe a couple of miles. Some might complain that it is too close to the highway, and I guess it is, but you will not have to worry about weather or traffic between Longmont and Estes.

If this year is like past years, many of the locals reserve weekend spots at St Vrain as early as they can, so there may be spots available during the week, but a lot of weekends the park is full.

There's no reason to be nervous driving to Estes Park if that's your destination. Millions of RVers have done it before you. It's not a scary drive.... but very scenic. That's where I'd recommend you stay.
