We have stayed at Blazing Star in SA several times over the years. very nice. They are now part of Sun Resorts.

In which part of SA will you be frequenting most? It's not a small city (about 120 miles around Loop 1604) and if you end up on the wrong side of town from where you want to go, you could be looking at an hour or more traveling time. If you can be more specific, I can probably help you more.

The last time we were there. We were in a hotel near the Riverwalk . I know we would want to visit the Alamo and some of the other attractions. The drive is not a big problem. Use to driving in the big city.

X2 for Travelers World. Stayed there last February without a towed. Public bus stop located across street from office. Excellent service and very convenient to get downtown to Alamo, River Walk, etc. Wonderful bike/walking trail adjacent to the park also follows river to downtown area.

FYI - water pressure at Travelers World exceeds 100 psi so be sure to use a pressure regulator!

Braunig Lake RV Park, but only on the premium side. Passport America last time I stayed there, $25 a night. Check the PA website for any restrictions.

Consider that there is an oil boom in all the counties South of SA and there are a lot of workers staying in the RV Parks. Call ahead for availability and reservations.

There is a parking lot directly behind The Alamo. I have parked there with a 1 Ton Dually and subsequently with the TOAD for $10 a day. River Walk is directly across from The Alamo.

Just spent 3 nights at Travelers World for New Years. Easy in and out, great office staff, and paved roads in the park. Very clean, lots of maintanence staff around daily. Check in was easy, and the staff had lots of local info, including the bus schedule with highlighted times for pickup and return to the park. Cost per person is $ 1.20 each way, but less than downtown parking lots or garages. Bus works to the River Walk stairs, and same to return back. We used the laundry, with 8 machines, spotlessly clean, carts, folding tables, chairs and TV.

Easy drive to downtown, Walmart, the HEB Plus, and the mission just south about a mile.

Much easier location than the KOA we used before, if you are doing the downtown locations.

For Riverwalk area Alamo KOA is good. Canyon Trail is great for covering a large area. It's just on the north side of New Braunfels next to I35. You can cover Austin, San Antonio, The Hill Country, Camping World close, etc. We stayed at one headed south to Port Aransas and the other coming back a couple of weeks later.

The DW & I have a trip to San Antonio on our bucket list. Our hopes are to RV to San Antonio and back but we want to stay in a hotel on the riverwalk while actually in San Antonio. So our scenario would require parking for the Class C while in San Antonio. Anyone got suggestions/solutions for us?

Thanks in advance!

There is a La Quinta at 303 Blum in San Antonio that is just a block or two from the RiverWalk area. It is easy access on and off the highway for an RV. I just called the hotel manager to let him know we were coming in an RV and he set out cones so we could park in the driveway. (We did stay in a room in the hotel)

If you're coming south on I-35, there is a nice RV Park in Shertz, Texas, just North of San Antonio, which might be named "Stone Creek". They have long pull thru sites. Eddie Elk.
