Who can plan a trip for us?

Look over these CampGrounds - Very Upscale and with lots for the kids to do - BUT much closer for a great 2 week trip.

The Summit of Luxury Motorcoach Resorts in the Blueridge Mts - In the mountains - just a little cooler, for summer - great area - catch Ashville on the way.

Camp with us! - American Heritage RV Park Campground Busch Gardens / Williamsburg, VA! - This just might be a one location Spring Break - Bush Gardens and the History of Williamsburg.

These Two are Hilton Head Island - great all year round - Marina has Great sunsets and Motorcoach Resort is closer to the Beach and Golf.

OK - Now pick a couple and make reservations - Close - BUT - will allow you to drive the new Coach for a bit - BUT - not too Much

If this does not work for the two week trip there are a few that would work for weekends or long Weekend, we have enjoyed most of these all year round and they are Great.

---- Yes, this is on our list to visit. it's about an hour from our house. we really like this type of environment.

One trick I used when I was still working and only had a short vacation was to: leave after work just before a Holiday. May 28th in your case. Start your vacation time the following Monday and then add one day if possible, the Monday of the week you return. That gives 12 days plus 3 weekends which is 6 more days, 18 days total. Even if you cannot take the final Monday off you'll still end up with 17 days, better than 14 and that makes longer distances possible.

If you end up in St. Louis, did City Museum. Kids will absolutely love it. It's like a family playground. If you haven't seen or heard of it, just search a video on YouTube and Google it.

We did a somewhat similar trip last summer with our 7 year old granddaughter. We left before she was out of school and traveled to Utah, etc. and then her Mom flew her out to meet us in CA to go to Disneyland before heading back east.

What worked for us was to focus primarily on one state. Last year was New Mexico (we stopped at the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest on the way). Our granddaughter loved New Mexico because there was so much variety. We stayed at Cochiti Lake and explored Tent Rocks and Santa Fe. Then, headed down to White Sands with a stop at Smokey Bear State Park. For White Sands, we stayed at Oliver Lee State Park and it was beautiful. There is a small Air and Space Museum in Alamagorodo and pistachio growers with delicious ice cream close by and White Sands was amazing.

If your kids want to do the Jr. Ranger programs, that can take up half a day at some of the parks but it is fun for them to earn their badges.

What also works for our granddaughter is to do long travel days, but then stay in one place for several days and use it as a basecamp rather than spending every other day driving and setting up camp, etc. By leaving very early in the morning and my husband and I taking turns driving, we made it from White Sands back to Alabama in 2 days with just one overnite stop, so it is possible if the weather is cooperative and you have 2 drivers.
