I'd hate to be on my death bed thinking about all the things I wanted to do in this life but my wife didn't let me.

Go without her. If she's still there when you get back, great. If not, take another trip and enjoy your life.

I hate to flying. Done with cruises. Won't take trains, too unreliable. Buses too slow.
That only leaves pulling the car behind the motorhome. She likes as much as me!

Is there a reason she doesn't want to go on longer trips? Is the RV not comfortable? Are most of your trips too rustic? Does she end up doing all the cooking and cleaning?

If her issues are comfort and the feeling that it is not a vacation for her, rethink how you schedule the trip. As others mentioned go to a higher end resort, have lunch or breakfast out at new and exciting places, make sure some of the stops include things she likes. If it is all just a chore and the same old same old as if at home just new scenery, why go to the effort and be without your home conveniences?

Try planning a trip around am event like an RV rally or the annual balloon festival they have in Albuquerque. Videos of your destinations might also pique her interest enough to say "let's go."

This is what we're doing this August. We'll spend a week in Idaho where I still have some family. Kids and grandkids will fly out and spend the week with us and then fly back. We'll continue on to Alaska arriving about September 1st. She'll fly back home for about 3 weeks while I'm hunting birds and fishing with some friends. She'll fly back, we'll spend a week in Alaska and then head home through the Canadian Rockies, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota. We'll meet up with my pheasant group in Sioux Falls and she'll fly back home.

She doesn't enjoy it as much as I do but she's been a real trooper these last 2 winters. We decided not to get a place in the South for winters for several reasons and this allows us to get away for 6 weeks or so. This Alaska trip is a once in a lifetime trip so she works with me.

Of you're going to go to Oregon crater lake is a must see. She will fall in love with it

My neighbor’s wife didn’t want an RV period! However she loves the beach (ocean). Well she discovered they can camp on the beach. She can spend a whole day at the beach then walk to their RV, take a shower, drink, make/eat dinner then relax at a campfire. Well she approved the purchase of a trailer and they use it all the time now. She invites her friends to visit and enjoys the social life at the campground. She will sometimes camp in wooded areas as a compromise now. Some great advice has been given here. Don’t give up!!

I have to agree.

Has she shared why she doesn't want to go, or mentioned where she WOULD like to go (or maybe how long she is comfortable traveling for?)

Don't attempt to copy what someone else does until you understand her concerns.

Real story:
Years ago in Toronto marina I met an older guy that just retired and he was cruising the Great Lakes by himself on a 26’ sailboat. He told me his wife refused to go. So he told her: You don’t have to go sailing, and I don’t have to stay home.
Years later, we bumped at each other in Annapolis marina. He had a bigger boat and much younger than him wife. They were on their way to the Bahamas.

I really wanted to full time (atleast for a few years) after we sold our farm....My wife was a home body and wanted to quickly purchase another home where we were to retire (west coast of Canada)...she was convinced that she needed "sticks & bricks" to feel grounded....We had at the time a nice rv....large....very comfortable.......and I never thought that was an issue....until we went to an RV show and started looking around.... she fell in love with a huge ...high end fifth wheel.....I made a deal on the unit....and we have been very happy since....to her surprise she needed more space....more of a residential feeling RV....problem solved....we are both living our retirement dream....Good luck....

My advise is do your first trip at the nicest RV resort you can find.

Don’t be a cheap wad right now. A lot of women don’t like camping because it’s to outdoors and dirty

A nice fancy RV resort helps overcome some of her fears.
