American Heritage. Great location, excellent sites (paved sites and roads). Full hookups are kind of expensive all through the area. We have tried all, if not most and will now use AH anytime we are in the Williamsburg area.htthttp://www.americanheritagervpark.com/p://

IMO, American Heritage is your best option in Williamsburg. Nice place.

If you are military active or retired, Cheatham Annex has a great campground. New, concrete slabs, clean, quiet. About 5 miles north of Williamsburg.

American Heritage is nice, was there last year, Williamsburg KOA is nice though haven't been in some time so check out current reviews. If you like trains, AT ALL HOURS OF DAY AND NIGHT, check out Anvil Campground convenient to colonial area but, trains run through it, fast!....... Not sure status of the campground near the ferry landing at Jamestown Settlement, but last time I was there it was still closed.

We have stayed at both American Heritage and Anvil campgrounds. If I was there just to see the sights and the closeness to all the attractions I would stay at Anvil. Yes, there are trains, but there are trains all over that part of VA. We have three kids and I don't think they once mentioned the trains.

Both are nice parks - enjoy your time in the area. I would imagine Colonial Williamsburg will be beautiful with the Christmas decorations.

We stayed at Chickahominy Riverfront Park when we visited the area. We had a big rig friendly full hookup site that backed up to the river.

I live in Williamsburg. It is a great place to visit at Christmas time.
The campground that USED to be near the ferry is gone.
Best price is for the campground at Chickahominy River. It is run by the County, and is real nice. BUT not as convenient to downtown as Anvil. Anvil is right on the train tracks. You WILL hear the trains. They are right next to you.
The thing about Williamsburg is that the area is not real large. Going to CW from the river is not difficult, and I am pretty sure you could make it in 20 minutes.
Hope you have a great time!
