Wilmington North Carolina Beach camping

Anyone have any suggestions on campgrounds that might be in the Wilmington north to New Bern area of North Carolina that are on or very close to the ocean beaches?

Here's a thread with some choices. Cedar Point's RV dump station may be closed, though the latest RV park review hints that it has reopened, you should call ahead if you need it.

We have stayed several times at the Wilmington KOA, never any issues.

The state park is nice if you don't mind not having hookups. If you're pulling a trailer, try looking at the camp site map first, I'd prefer site number 13 as it's an easy one to pull through.

There is one issue that might be problem if you stay out of the site past gate closing time. you will have to walk back to the site from the gate after it's closed and locked. If you don't mind the stroll in the dark, no problem.

Public toilets and showers available, water from two road side faucets.

If you really want ocean front in that range, Wilmington to New Bern, Holiday Trav-l park at Emerald Isle is your place. Lovely campground, ocean front property but you will have to walk over substantial dune to get to ocean, you will not be ocean front at you site. It is a great campground, as mentioned in prior post it is expensive. Check their website Holiday Trav-L-Park

Wilmington KOA is nice if you want access to Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area, but is several miles from downtown or beach. There are some ocean front campgrounds in Topsail Beach, but I think at this point they are all privately owned sites with permanent units, that has been the trend over the years. (I have lived in this area for nearly 30 years)

Depending on where you intend to visit the decision would be different. But if you are just looking for ocean front (access) in the range you suggest, then the Holiday Trav-l Park is the place. PM me if you want any more detailed info.

By the way, you didn't mention when you would be traveling here, Holiday Trav-l Park is seasonal park, not open year round!

Turkey Point RV Park in Sneads Ferry. Right on the intercoastal and about 5 minutes from North Topsail Beach! Great People!

Talking

Wilmington KOA is centralized to the beaches and downtown, stayed there a few times. Patio sites are great
