Hi, we live in Winnipeg and i have some suggestions for you.

There is a campground east of Winnipeg on the #1 Hwy TransCanada) about 3 miles and is pretty handy.

As for what to do my first suggestion would be to visit The Forks, its downtown at the junction of where the Red and Assiniboine River meet with tons to do, interesting water taxi tours , restaurants and within walking distance to a fantastic new museum called The Museum for Human Rights which traces the history of various groups of people who moved to Canada over time. There is a wonderful river walkway along the river which you can take and visit the Legislative Building with its rich history. Enjoy and Welcome

I can never recall seeing any RV parking at either casino, their lots are always full of cars . I might suggest the casino on Regent Ave and camping at Birds Hill Park , its a pretty straight drive back and forth, The park is located just north east of the City and casino in the north east.Easy access to the park from The Perimeter Highway (bypass)

Have fun

Winnipeg

I camp to GET OUT of Wpg ... but to each his own. Couple of suggestions.

DO NOT even consider the KOA (West of Wpg), it is located next to Hwy 1 (long term camping in the back). Way to noisy.

Birds Hill Prov Park is almost always fully booked during the summer (because its so close to the Peg) - try the WEB site and see, https://prspub.gov.mb.ca

There is a campground Town and Country

Town & Country Campground :: About the Campground

a much better option (private) on the east side (much quieter than the KOA - BUT it is next to a FUN MOUNTAIN water park - so can get noisy during the days.

As for what to do

NO WAY

No camping / BD at the Gov run casino's - McPhillips Street Station is in the notorious " north end" STAY AWAY. I work (paramedic)in TNE - stay very far away.

Casino in Transcona (east end) MUCH ++++ better but - still no camping.

The Forks - I suppose .... visit Grand Beach Prov park ... beautiful beach .... about an hour drive NNE.
