Where in Florida do you like to stay for the winter.

I'm staying in the Daytona area. It's about 8 degrees cooler than the Miami area but 1/3 the price!

We're out West this year, specifically because when it is cool in FL, it usually is wet and cloudy. Got our fill of that last year. We were just North of the Tampa/Orlando corridor; that supposedly is the "defining" line for cold to warm. Also, a price tag anywhere from 30-180% higher in price depending on how far south you go.

When we choose Florida for the winter, Ft. Myers Beach is our favorite. The CG is 2 miles from the island on San Carlos Blvd. Expensive, well it's relative to your preferences. During "winter" there, perhaps 7-10 days are not suitable for swimming. We decided to winter elsewhere in the future, it's getting waaay too crowded, some of Ft. Myers resembles the LA traffic jams now.

A reasonable area in S.Florida is around Lake Okeechobee. But you are 50 miles from anything major, shopping, movies, theaters, etc.
Yes most South Florida is expensive. Check out RV site winter rates in the Keys! Last I looked, Boyd's CG winter rate was $108/night.

Have been coming south of Miami for over 15 years.
Never have had over 3-4 short 1-2 hour freezes(32º) in that time.
Right now a cold front is here and is only 63º at 11AM high to be only 71º today.
Low tonight to be 51º won't see the 80's until next Mon.

Campgrounds in the area from $565 month and up.

We've been at L&P CG for the last 3 winters. We love tropical Miami, the food and the people. There is just so much to see and do here.

We spent 4 snowbird seasons/years traveling around Florida to find a place we now call our winter home!

We've spent winters in the Silver Springs area. Decided to go further south this year because of how cold it's been in Silver Springs the last couple winters. In Frostproof this winter, and it's been 8-10 degrees warmer than Silver Springs.

Perhaps the lowest monthly rates in S. Florida are at Larry and Penny Thompson CG. It's county park W. of Miami.

Do you want to just get away from snow / ice? Or do you want to swim / tan? Makes a big difference how far south you drive. Each mile adds to site expense.
