Wyoming's Black Hills NF

I have searched with not much result. Anybody out there have any good boondocking sites for this area? It doesn't seem like this NF has much capacity for dispersed camping compared to what I am accustomed to here in AZ. I have found the Bearlodge and Crook Lake developed campsites, but nothing about dispersed sites. The NF website states that there are some dispersed sites, but none are listed.

Yes, thanks tg. But I really want to find some dispersed boondocking sites there. Maybe my best bet would be to call the Ranger office there. Is there a good source out there for quality dispersed campsites in National Forests? I subscribe to Overnight RV Parking, but that's mostly for sites in towns and along highways.

Have you tried this site? I don't know exactly where you want to be but here is Wyoming..... just click on the circle in the area you want and see what comes up.

Yes, thank you tg, that site has more NF dispersed sites. I'll play with it.

To update this thread, I did end up staying three days at the NFS Bear Lodge cg. The
cg was re-opened just a few days before my arrival. This is in the Wyoming part of the Black Hills NF. It is a nice little cg with easy access from the hiway with only 7 sites. Of these only about 4 are suitable for big rigs. It has a vault toilet and each roomy site has a firepit and picnic table, $10 per night. It was always less than 50% occupied while I was there. It provided me and my Ryker good access to Devils Tower. The only negative here was the hiway noise, especially this time of year with hordes of motorcyclists roaring up the hill towards Sturgis.
