Gros Ventre

Wed. might be better to beat weekend rush. Be early, maybe phone day before to ask if any elec. sites open even though they won't reserve. Alternate of Colter Bay RV if you really need elec. There are a couple of cg's in Jackson but prices are high.

Our experience in 2016
Jackson Hole-- $95+per night, Fishing Bridge --biggest dump in the NPS system. West Yellowstone--- traffic jams galore getting into the park. Cody WY.-- a long ride to get there and back.
If we go back again Gardiner MT would be our choice to stay.

Which "Gros Ventre" are you talking about? Gros Ventre Falls? if so that's in Glacier County Montana up in the NW corner of the state. The areas that have been discussed in this thread are in the south central part of Montana and Northern Wyoming. Lot's of miles between the two.

If I have missed the exact location you're speaking of and the place you have in mind is near Yellowstone I would add this. We camped at Bay Bridge in Yellowstone the week before Memorial Day last year. It's a great time to see the park as it is alive with new bison...bears...elk you name it. It's the "birthing season". However, we had to be off our spot by the Friday before the weekend. You may get a spot but chances are you won't get to keep it ....if in fact the place you speak of is a campground and not a city or town.

He's asking about Gros Ventre campground in Teton Nat'l Park.

Superslif: No one really knows if the electric sites will be available but yes, if you can arrive early you'd have a better chance. Good luck!

Yes, Gros Ventre just east of Jackson Ski resort in the Teton's. After that we have a week at both Bridge Bay and Madison reserved in YS the day after Memorial Day. So I'm hoping I'll miss the heavy heavy summer traffic, but still expect to see busy roads and parking lots even for early June.

Not paying $95 for electric in any private park in Jackson. Don't really need electric, but since we will be two weeks off the cord while in YS, I figure it would be nice to at least have fully charged batteries before entering the park. My only power source will be a 100 watt portable solar panel....If the sun doesn't shine, It will make it just a little harder.
