Yosemite to Palm Springs which route
I was looking at a map to see the best way to do this in a 30 foot Class A.We are currently staying at the thousand trails at Yosemite lakes. We would love to avoid the one route that has the switchbacks on 120 outside of Groveland,as well as taking us close to Los Angelas.
The other way has us doing route 395 south to 10
Has anyone ever done this way
The wife hates mountains but just trying to figure route with least amount

You can always drive back to Bakersfield on 41 to 99 and then take highway 58 towards Barstow/395, then take I15 to I10 to Palm Springs. Avoids the grapevine and the core city traffic.

Definitely head back toward Bakersfield. But I would take J132 towers Coulterville before heading back down New Priest Grade. That’s exactly what we did when leaving Yosemite Lakes. Ask Tom in the office for more specifics.

yosemite to palm springs
I would take the 395 s to 15 south to 10 east. 395 is a nice drive. If you go the 99 S to 58 E you have a pretty good grade across Tehachapi

395 is a beautiful drive - a big favorite of ours.

So most f you guys think the 395 drive is easiest for us as opposed to 99 ? Is there anywhere along 395 to stay overnight, its 7 hours of driving from Groveland to Palm Springs and we have 2 days to do it

If you opt for Bakersfield/Tehachapi route. The Bakersfield RV Resort is close to the freeway and has a very good 3 meal restaurant on site and they deliver to the RV, even though it is only a short walk away. Have done the Rt 58 Techachapi grade numerous times and it is not a bad pull, just can have a lot of trucks.

There are plenty of places to stay along 395. 99 is the pits.

Are you in Yosemite or Yosemite Lake? Getting to 395 might be tricky from the Lake. Last time I passed thru the Park and over Tioga Pass is about 10,000 feet and the decent on the eastern side is steep and has no guard rails due to snow drifts pushing it over the cliff.

The Backersfield RV Resort is nice, but I have never stayed there. If you take Hwy 58 there is a nice Campgroung in Techachapi. Don’t remember the name but it is near the small local airport. Once on I-15 go south to I-215 which will take you to I-10 east to Palm Springs. This will avoid the major LA traffic 15/10 merge. You can also check campgroundsreviews.com for other campground options.

I didn't know where you are staying. If near Groveland then take 99.

I would suggest taking the 215 to the 210 ( not too Pasadena ) to the 10 then to Palm Springs. And unless it’s October or later, I would also suggest the cranking up the genny and turning on the house air.

My wife nearly passed out coming up 120 to Groveland hence the decent via J132 to Coulterville. Then an easy drive to LaGrange and 99. You could also stay at the Orange Grove RV southeast of Bakersfield before heading to Pam Springs. By the way where are you staying in Palm Springs? The TT Park doesn’t open until mid Sept. maybe Palm Springs Oasis??
