Your favorite spots in Maine & Vermont

Seeking out your favorite spots in Maine in Vermont for a summer travel in our class A motorhome towing a jeep! We love small town America and can go with limited hookups, but prefer FHU. We tend to stay at least a week in a spot to scope it all out. Looking for your recommendations on spots that have great kayaking, fishing, and e-biking rail trail highlights! Thanks in advance. The recommendations I get from this forum are gold!

Kingdom Kampground in Lyndonville VT is excellent. That area is part of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom which is very rural (even by VT standards) and has a lot of what you are looking for nearby.

We typically stay there a couple times a year. Campground is approx 4 years old, very well designed and the owners are great people.

Shore Hills Campground in Booth Bay Maine . Dorset RV Park in Dorset Vermont.
Also Salisbury Beach State Park in Salisbury Ma. Is a great place to stay, beautiful beach. The Kittery shops an Ogunquit area in Maine are about 30 minutes away.

We go to Trenton ME every summer for a month or so. Acadia National Park is 10 miles away. There is great bike riding on the parks 45 miles of carriage roads with outstanding views. Also nearby is the Down East Sunrise trail , a rail to trail that is about 90 miles long. Both the Downeast and the Carriage roads are crushed gravel and ebike friendly . In
Trenton, we stay at Narrows Too. Big rig friendly and FHU

X2 on Salisbury beach, Short drive to southern ME attractions, direct access to 2 beaches, kayaking, biking. Been about 10 yrs since we last stay there.

Not as much valve as I remember, I believe rates have gone up considerably.

I would highly recommend Winhall brook in Londonderry VT. Lots of VT charm in the area. Scenic ADA rail trail runs through the campground that connects to a walking trail to a water falls that overviews a valley. Lazy river also runs through the campground that you can swim in. Kayaking, check out Grout Pond (about 45 minutes drive) and Gale Meadows Pond (about 15 minutes drive). Campground office should have directions...

Out-of-staters will pay 85/night at Salisbury + other fees so the value there has been lost. We used to be regulars there but after the latest price jacks we stay at one of the Sea-Vu campgrounds 20 miles up the road in Maine. Much cleaner and quieter and we still venture down to Salisbury and pay for a day pass to use the beach.

Sea-Vu in Wells me is ridiculous, $118.00 a nite in summer, don't care how wonderful it is. Salisbury beach rv is much cheaper and just walk over the dunes, you are in the ocean..

We enjoyed the serenity and proximity to hwy 100 of Winhall Brook a COE park. Unfortunately they experienced significant damage from the 2023 floods they are currently closed.

For our upcoming fall trip trip we're planning to go up to Montreal then south through Vermont on our way to Salem.

Most coastal ME parks are expensive from what I have found, especially the parks from Old Orchard Beach area and going south.

years ago I remember Salisbury Beach was a real bargain but not so much any more. Were on the fence on returning.

We traditionally travel this way the week following Labor Day. SeaVu was 80/night FHU, Salisbury was 85/night. The last few years at Salisbury during this period were less than stellar, with filthy unkempt grounds and facilities, and clientele with an "all about me" attitude. If I were a MA resident I'd overlook the Parks misgivings bc its a deal at 25/night. Pay a premium for that? Nah
