Zion - Arches Reservations

We may be going to both in early July. We are not sure if the trip is going to happen so I cant make reservations yet.

Will we have a hard time finding campgrounds around these parks in July without reservations?

We could boondock but AC overnight in July in Utah might be needed. How are overnight temps in these areas during July?

If it were me - I'd make the reservations, and IF it turned out we could not go, bite the bullet and eat the cancellation fee. Getting reservations at these parks in, or in close proximity to the National Park will be like pulling hens' teeth - you cant find them. JMO.

I booked Bruce and Zion RV spots last night for first 2 weeks of July. It was tough to find something for my durations. I’m also in a 40’ DP, so selection em was limited.

Good luck on finding a spot if you just drive in without reservations. In fact as has been mentioned you might already have a tough time getting them now. Again as someone else mentioned making reservations now and maybe have to cancel might be your best bet.

Same here. The longer you wait, the more difficult it will be to find a site. As for boondocking, I, personally, would not. The average daytime temperature in Moab in July is 99 degrees. Nighttime is 65. If that kind of heat is a problem for anyone in your group be sure to consider campgrounds with, at least, electric for A/C.

Good luck with your trip - hope you're able to go and you have a wonderful time!

Mary

Zion will be tough. I think in Moab, you'll have better luck. Last time we were at Arches it was July/August and there were plenty of spots in Portal RV park. Also very, very hot
