Zion / Brice Canyon

Will be traveling down I-15 and want to see Zion and Brice Canyon. Best home base for a week. Was looking at Red Canyon RV park in Panguitch. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The 2 are far enough apart that you would probably be better off either just picking one or splitting the week between them.

Ruby's RV park at the entrance to Bryce canyon is a great place to stay. Zion is so crowded we have never stayed there. Maybe someone else will have an idea of a place closer to Zion. campgroundreviews.com is down right now or I would look.

I stay here everytime we visit Zion.. good spot and we try to get on the river if possible(towards the back).

Not as cheap as staying in watchman but easy in and out and easier to get reservations

I agree that those two parks are too far apart to visit from the same base. Panguitch is a very long way from Zion, and pretty far from Bryce. Those are not roads where everyone travels 65 since they are narrow and winding. For Zion, Watchman inside the park is incredible, but sometimes hard to get reservations. I haven’t stayed anywhere else in Zion, so I defer to those who have. For Bryce, Ruby’s is the best choice because it is right on the shuttle bus stop to get into the park.

We stayed at the WillowWind RV Park in Hurricane, UT when visiting Zion. It’s a VERY nice park and will definitely stay there again when in the area. It is about a 25 minute drive from the park but worth it to us.
Happy travels!!

A nice place in Glendale, somewhat centrally located (!?), is Bauers Canyon Ranch RV Park. Good reviews, quiet, maybe a bit close in some sites, but good services and lots of grass!! Spent 2 nights there in March of 2015 and visited both parks easily!!

AND, if you are a classic car enthusiast, there is a neat "junk" yard at the north end of town with lots of stuff!!

We stayed at Willow Wind in Hurricane last year when visiting Zion. Nice park with very nice showers and laundry area. Easy drive to Zion. For Bryce, we stayed right in the park among the pines which is what we prefer. Did not make reservations in either place.

A second vote for Bauers in Glendale....have stayed there twice. No frills, but full hookups.

If you are southbound on I15 I would encourage you to stop at Kolob Canyon (exit 40). It is actually a part of Zion NP. A short drive-thru off I15 and a great picnic stop. There are a number of campgrounds in or near Springdale. If staying at Bryce, Ruby's is good if you want hookups. I would suggest a day trip to Escalante and then a few miles further East to Boulder. Recommend a stop at Calf Creek Recreation Area and the 5 mile hike to Lower Calf Creek Falls (the hike is mostly flat and a unique experience)
