Zion National Park
My husband and I are planning a trip to Zion N.P. in September. I am trying to make reservations in a campground and need to know which entrance to the park I want to be near. We want to hike and see the most scenic areas so would it be best for us to enter through Springdale? If not where is the best entrance? Please advise us if you have been there and know the area.
Campground recommendations for a 45 motorhome would also be welcomed!
Thanks in advance,
Leslie

Yes, enter through Springdale. Personally, I loved the Watchman campground (reservations advised). It has electric hookups and some sites have water. No sewer, but there is a dump station. The sites are large, and the setting is beautiful. You are right next door to the Visitor's Center where the shuttles depart for the park interior. When you get back in the evening, you are only about two miles from the town of Springdale which is rich in restaurants, stores and attractions.
If you insist on full hookups, then you will want the more commercial Zion River Resort campground which is beautiful but is about 12 miles out of town and 14 miles from the park itself.

If you don't need full hookups, the Watchman CG in Zion is nice. There are some sites that can accommodate a rig your size. A Visitor's Center is located there where you can catch shuttles. Entering at Springdale would be best.

You can literally walk into Zion from the small town of Springdale. The free shuttle makes stops along the main road and will take you to Zion's visitor center or another shuttle connection to take you to the end of the park. It's very convenient.

I was there last summer and opted to stay at Zion River Resort since I had my teenage son with me. Even he was impressed. We got up early each morning to avoid the morning rush into Zion and never had any problems with parking or catching shuttle buses. As already mentioned the Springdale side has alot of restaurants, shops, and attractions. Be sure to visit Grafton Ghost town (37.167401, -113.082040).

I was able to get a reservation at Zion River RV Park in August.
Thank you all for your suggestions and advice.

That is a great park, you will add it to your short list. But, August is hot, like hot. To find cooler temps head to Bryce or Cedar Brakes.
