Anyone attending Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale this year? Scottsdale 2015 Preview - Barrett-Jackson Auction Company - World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions We were thinking of spending a day or two before moving on to Quartzsite. We like Desert Shadows on Union Hills and about 29th Ave. easy access to the loop 101.

We are going and staying on the property. It's pricey, but the convenience factor out weighed the price for me.

Tom, I didn't see where they have RV parking on site. Is it dry camping or hookups?

Al, that looks like a good spot. Right behind Costco, my wife's favorite tourist destination.

They have electric and water. No sewer. When you register (in advance for campsites) they ask 30 or 50. I think they offer a dump service or you can use their dump station when you depart.

Tom,
I think you book on-site RV Parking with City of Scottsdale as Westworld is their facility under license from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Space is very limited and fills up quick.
And, yes, Desert Shadows is next door to Costco. You can ask for a back gate key ($5?) and it goes almost straight into Costco parking lot. Back gate is two blocks from an entrance ramp onto the Loop 101. B-J parking lots are mostly along the 101 with shuttles into Westworld.
Unless you want to join the throngs in Scottsdale, there are numerous restaurants on Bell Road west of the Desert Shadows location.
I know a little about this as I worked for Reclamation and the Central Arizona Project for 41 years. Had a little bit to do with the development of Westworld and Scottsdale TPC back in the day. Had no idea it would turn out like this!!

While B-J is the best, if you have time, hit the other auctions that take place at the same time. They are all unique, but B-J is amazing. There is parking within walking distance to the auction off of Bell Rd. east of the 101. It does fill up, but I have never had an issue. Go earlier in the week for the smallest crowds.

Any one that has followed this auction I'm sure knows the name Ron Platts (sp). Well I just read and hear an interview with the Barret-Jackson people, and it seems that Ron is going to auction of a large part of his car collection at this up coming auction. Seems lake a MAJOR change in the way Ron does car collection being as he has not sold any cars in the past only bought some of the most unique cars, including GM's massive Dream Liner Show of the Future bus.

Tom,
Another option would be the RV park at the Fort McDowell Casino north of Mesa. We've never stayed there, but it would be close to Scottsdale. It is in a very rural environment along the Verde River.
Of course, there are numerous RV parks in east Mesa and Apache Junction. All have good access to Scottsdale via the Loop 202 and 101.
BTW, we'll be at Desert Shadows that week for doctor's check ups. If you stay there, look us up, you can't miss the "Go Devils" bus!!

We stay at Eagle View RV Resort in Fort MacDowel. Many there have trailers with cars to by and sell at the auction.

It looks like Eagle View is full the week of the show.
