There are a bunch of Quartzite gatherings that happen. The official Season for the BLM LTVA areas is September 15th thru April 15th. Most folks do not start arriving in Quartzite until after October 1st.
The Big Show in Q is scheduled for January 22-30 2022. A number of clubs choose that time to have their gatherings as well.

We have gone to Quartzite probably 10 times, usually on our way somewhere else. It's unique and everybody should see it once.
Getting away in an RV is the best thing in the world to let your mind relax.

Old backpacker here, my friends and I had a rule that said NEVER backpack nor hike alone in dangerous areas. Lot's of people fall over cliffs, etc.
So you are smart to find other hikers.
