Star Gazing / Astronomy Adventure

I would love to learn more about astronomy and wondering if anyone knows of any type of RVing adventures or meetups in 2016.

Thanks,

Patsy

If you travel to west Texas you could stop at
The McDonald Observatory. About McDonald Observatory | McDonald Observatory
They have star parties 3 nights a week plus a solar program during the day.

We are planning to visit there later in the fall on our way to AZ.

If your in So.Cal. are Joshua Tree National Monument is great for star gazing plus there's a Observatory just outside the North East entrance.

I'm in Florida and hope to head out around March 2016 for a few months RVing toward the Southeast. Finding star gazing and astronomy adventures are.... hopefully..... going to be a part of this trip.

You might want to check some of the astronomy forums such as,
Cloudy Nights http://www.cloudynights.com/page/index.html.
In the forums there is an area for star party listings, hopefully there will be something in the area you are traveling to.

You might want to check for local astronomy clubs. Just happened to remember this star party in Florida.
2016 Winter Star Party | SOUTHERN CROSS ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY Miami, Florida | Established in 1922

Badlands National Park usually has a star watch porgram after each of their regular evening programs.

One of the astronomy apps for your smartphone might be helpful. I use Pocket Universe, but there are also many others available.
