EXCELLENT ADVICE. We never worried about this until our last Canadian trip when we were both on medicare. AAA has insurance for almost everything (like offshore oil rig workers in Ireland) and we bought supplemental AAA insurance for a 10 day trip into Canada in 2012. Cost was around $100, however, if you have medicare and a supplemental policy, just review some bills to see the "discounts" these can bring from the original billing. No discounts or no coverage for a health issue cost in Canada can result in a very large bill.
