4 Route Questions from Little Rock to Pensacola
Will be coming back home to Florida in late August. Have Route questions.
I have laid out the trip & made reservations, but can change, if needed.
Question 1:
From I-40E at Little Rock to I-530, then to U.S. 65 South, connecting to I-20E at Tallulah, then I-20E to Jackson Ms.
What is U.S. 65 like as far as road conditions, etc.? Appears to be a two-lane road with decent shoulders!
Question 2: What is U.S. 49 (SE) like, road conditions, etc, going to Hattiesburg MS?
Question 3: What is U.S. 98 like, road conditions, etc, from Hattiesburg to I-10 at Mobile Al?
Question 4: How is I-10 from Pensacola area, East to !-95?
Have you traveled these roads? Your experiences, good or bad?
Thanks, in advance, for your help and advise! Our first trip ever, West of the Mississippi, and then back to Florida!

All I can answer is re: I-10, which is in great condition and a nice drive. Easy to find fuel but not so easy to find RV parks. Pretty during the day, a long lonely road at night.
We are usually going north and have been bypassing Jax via 301 to avoid construction and general insanity around the 295 exit, occasionally if Google suggests we will go straight through to 95 and the roads are fine as long as you're prepared for a short stretch of rough pavement and lane shifts near 295.

I have no experience on this and the last time I drove through Mobile was returning home after flight cancelled for 9/11, but there is a tunnel on I-10 in Mobile.
Is that an issue for RVs? I suspect not, but better to know before you go.

US 49 south out of Jackson has a lot of construction. Not as bad as it was a year ago but still rough. The freeway interchange in Jackson of I-20 and 49 is wild.

That is our preferred route. As was previously mentioned, seems to always be some construction around Jackson, but for the most part the roads are good, and the route is fairly simple.
We have done that trip at least 3 times in the past 5 years. We last drove it in December in a 33’ motorhome pulling a large toad and had no issues.

Just a few days ago, I took I-40 to I-55, then down 35 though Vaiden, 19 to Meridian, 84 to Grove Hill, and into Pensacola on 29.
I avoid Mobile at all costs anytime of day.
It was a great trip, no issues at all along the way.
I-10 from Pensacola East is fine. The only big city is Tallahassee and it's not bad at anytime. I came through there about three weeks ago.

I just drove from Jackson to Foley, Al today so I can answer a couple:
#2 Hwy 49 is OK once you get 15-20 miles south of Jackson
#3 98 is easy until about 15 miles from I-10. Then it’s stop and go through a bunch of small towns. Lots of trucks traffic and some narrow lanes.
#4 From the 98/I-10 intersection was very slow and congested all the way thru the tunnel and across the causeway to Spanish Fort, then it cleared up.
The whole trip was 5 hours.

we go from memphis to north FL all the time... 65 is usually first choice... depends where we want to end up usually ft walton destin area the Mobil tunnel is fine for rvs (40ft diesel pusher w/toad) I love the tunnel takes you right to Foley fairhope ect... all the roads are good (we make the trip alot and often) plenty of truck stops... expect $5.50Gallon diesel as of last week... IF you are heading further down 65 to Montgomery take 331 down to the coastal highway (98) 331 dumps you out closer to Top Sail /seaside have fun

THANKS to everyone for the responses!
Seems this will be a good route, overall, except some construction & trucks!
What else is new about construction & trucks
Enjoy your travels!

No propane restriction for I-10 tunnel in/out of Mobole, AL.
Researched like crazy and drove through a month ago.... no restrictions...just general commercial hazmat.

Drove that route a week ago in reverse (south FL, Pensacola, Mobile, Hattiesburg, Jackson. All good.
Then turned west so can't help with the rest of our route.
We did not take the Mobile tunnel, as it was backed up for AM rush hour. We took the U.S. 90 high bridge instead.
