Not sure why you'd want to avoid the relative safety and peace of mind of interstate highways, but you could get to Florida on U.S. highways. U.S. 15 to U.S. 501 would get you part way there, but you'd have cross traffic, stop lights, towns, cities, varying speed limits to deal with.

Google maps can plot a route and is easy to 'drag' the route to avoid interstates if that's your goal.

I-81 to I-77, then I-26 to I-95 to Jacksonville, FL, I-295 around to U.S. 301. Then cross over to I-75 S just north of Ocala. 15 hours, 30 min. 1,045 miles. Alternate route, I-81 to I-40, Knoxville to I-75, add 2 hours and 150 miles to the trip.

150 miles in 2 hours? You must fly. Chuck

That's the route I took from the Lehigh Valley to Jacksonville FL back in the 90's and early 2000 IT avoided all tolls back then, I haven't run that route since 2002 so I don't know if it's changed?
